New Marc Maingard Lucas-York 12 fret cutaway with dual bevels done in very rare Pink Ivory back and sides with German Spruce top. The (African) Pink Ivory is an excellent tonewood - strong and dense but so rare to find in large enough dimensions for guitar building. Also so admired for its beatuty, it shows up in knife blanks, pens, jewlery boxes and a bunch of situations where the artistry counts. This is what Marc says about the Lucas-York model:
This guitar has an extremely powerful resonance, startling volume and a large presence for a guitar of this size. It is recommended for finger-pickers, blues and lead players who like the sweet sound of a small guitar, with the added advantage of greater volume. The almost classical body shape makes it a great crossover instrument for nylon string players.
1 13/16" nut width and 2 7/32" saddle spacing. 25.4" scale. Lower bout 14 3/4" with a tail depth of 4 11/16". Solid headstock with Ebony binding and red trim lines with a front overlay of Macassar Ebony and back overlay of Pink Ivory. Gold Waverlies with black wood buttons. Nicely contrasting Maple Neck. Macassar Ebony and red trimmed Abalone rosette with a Macassar soundhole circlet. Fully bound body with the delicate red trim lines also carried over to the backstrip and heelcap. Ebony bridge pins with Pink Ivory dots. Just a great total package with sound to match. Very special instrument from Marc. Hiscox case with Maingard logo. (going to include a few shot "with" and "without" flash to help get a better feel of the back and side set).
